Music history

leipzig4_2006-06-04Born in 1975, I’ve been making music since 1994. The initial pieces consisted exclusively of synthesizer -, drum computer and sampled sounds, which were steered via a software sequencer. Since 1994, there have been different stylistic changes and developments from Hard Trance, to House and Rave and later a symbiosis of Dream House and Trance.

The developments in the creation of own music went hand in hand with a regular commitment as DJ. First limited to parties and school happenings, I soon became a resident DJ in a local club, which gave me the opportunity to present my material in a broad public.

bluepartnersIn 2001, I joined efforts with my long-time friend Torben Wendt in his Dark Wave Group Diorama as producer, background singer and live keyboard player. This co-operation brought forward some amazing musical pieces and experiences. The latest release was the album “Cubed” in 2010 which is already the 7th album.

During a support tour with Diorama for VNV Nation in April 2005, I connected to Vasi Vallis who was playing live keyboards for VNV. langen_2010-12-07After the tour and when his former project NamNamBulu fell apart, we decided to start a collaboration under the name of Frozen Plasma with me as the lead singer. We produced several club anthems like the famous track “Warmongers” or “Tanz die Revolution” that also appeared on our last album “Monumentum” which was released in 2009.

PathwaysBased on this background I decided to compile my own compositions that I created along the way during these years on a first solo album in 2008. The album name “Pathways” is symbolical for the years behind that inspired me in the creative process of this CD. Motivated by the amazing feedback I decided to release yet another solo album by the name “Parallel Worlds” which will be released June 10th, 2011.

And the story continues….

Music Approach

In music, I try to combine harmonic melodies with danceable rhythms without becoming primitive. The lyrics are about self-experiences and self-impressions, and sometimes even show parallels to social topics. The songs have mostly a melancholic character and orient themselves audibly at the sound of the 80′s.

Sources of inspiration

If I had to describe my music or compare it to existing bands, I would probably name the following: Diorama, Frozen Plasma, Mesh, Falco, Wolfsheim, Camouflage, and various artists from the 80′s, e.g. Pet Shop Boys. A lot of inspiration is acquired through my interest in poetry, especially Irish poets like W.B. Yeats, and romantic painters like Caspar David Friedrich, Johan Christian Dahl, and Ernst Ferdinand Oehme. I also collect ideas while traveling or spending time abroad.
